Protein structures play essential roles in the field of life science, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. Our laboratory is interested in the three-dimensional structures of disease-related biological molecules (protein/peptide) to elucidate structure-function relationships.
The ultimate goal of our research is to develop a basis and strategy for novel therapeutics using the structure-based drug discovery (SBDD) concept.
The main tools to determine protein structure are high-resolution NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-EM. We also employ various biophysical/spectroscopic techniques, including CD, ITC, SPR, and DSC.
We are working on gene cloning, protein expression, protein purification, and characterization studies to investigate the properties of target proteins.
The target proteins of our research are as follows.
01
Neurodegenerative diseases-related proteins (Tau, Aβ, Huntingtin)

02
Calcium signaling proteins (IP3 receptor, CaBP1)

03
Therapeutic antibody

04
Proteins associated with infectious bacteria
